RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN

Acknowledgement of Country

Airmaster acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Lands where we live and work. We would also like to pay our respect to Australia’s First Peoples; and to their Elders both past and present, and we extend respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples today..

In acknowledgement and support of reconciliation in Australia, a canvas was taken by our RAP launch team around the Country for the addition of paintings at each ceremony. This canvas symbolises unity between branches and the Traditional Custodians in solidarity.

The circles (roundels) represents the individual state branches, painted in the Airmaster colours and surrounded by the ‘U’ shape icons that the Airmaster employees and Traditional Custodians painted themselves.

These are surrounded by pastel bands to symbolise the role that Airmaster plays in the Australian community and industries. These bands also include the old Airmaster colour scheme which represents its origins and continuity. It also symbolizes growth and maturity.

The penultimate coloured band, the oxide red, represents the Australian continent, the giver of life. Finally, the white used throughout the painting represents the spirit and the spiritual connection amongst each other, with our communities, families and the land.

Building our Reconciliation Action Plan

To demonstrate our commitment to Australia’s First Peoples, Airmaster developed a Reconciliation Action Plan that was formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia in 2019. Our first RAP, being a Reflective RAP was developed by an appointed Airmaster Working Group. Comprising of several staff from around Australia who come together from a diverse range of roles, Airmaster’s RAP Working Group is led by Irene Winter, Airmaster’s Management Systems Coordinator and is championed by CEO Noel Courtney.

The Reflective RAP was our first step on the journey. As part of the launch, each major branch across Australia partook in the journey, celebrating our achievement as well as engaging in educational sessions on First Nations culture and understanding reconciliation. The plan incorporates several deliverables that help Airmaster work towards reconciliation. As per Reconciliation Australia’s framework, the RAP was to be delivered over 12 months, however due to COVID, this was extended for another year.

Innovate RAP

As Airmaster continues this journey, the next step was to develop the next RAP, being an Innovate RAP. We are proud to announce that this has been fully endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. Running over two years, it outlines the actions of achieving our stated vision until September 2023. An Innovate RAP focuses on developing and strengthening relationships, engaging staff and stakeholders in reconciliation, and developing and piloting innovative strategies together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

The RAP outlines distinct actionable items that will help Airmaster to work towards reconciliation and is separated into four sections, Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance.

The process has been one of education and enlightenment to all that have participated and brought us all together in a shared vision to build strong, meaningful and practical connections that make a real difference.
